Supervisor- Surgery Scheduler

Under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the Scheduling Supervisor supervises the scheduling function in Surgery Services. He/she acts as the Surgical Services key contact for coordinating with the Information Services Department on system issues including: development and execution of system expansions and upgrades through interaction with management, departmental staff and surgeons. The Scheduling Supervisor is responsible for identifying information needs, creating and establishing departmental reports, maintaining departmental databases, conducting System utilization audits, and training end users within the Surgical Services department of Enloe Medical Center. He/she acts as a liaison with Information Services and creates drafts of surgery computer procedures and policy, for review with I.S. and department
director. He/she designs and conducts educational programs relative to information technology. These services further the mission of Enloe Medical Center, which is to provide high quality, cost effective healthcare for the people in the communities we serve.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Two years experience in an acute care surgery environment. One year experience with computer software programs: word processing, spreadsheet and database. Desired: Supervisory experienceCollege degree in health, math or business related degree. Training in decision support, databases, spreadsheet, report writer.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Knowledge of scheduling processes, data entry processes, supply management, charging, and understanding
of the information system needs of surgery services. Type 35 wpm(certificate current within 3 years). Familiarity with the needs and policies of other departments as they relate to surgical services. The ability to coordinate with Information Services the identification and definition of system problems. Must have the ability to apply supervisory principles and techniques, exhibit good problem-solving skills, and promote a positive team-building atmosphere. Ability to train and effectively communicate information to system users. Interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively, discuss, influence and obtain approvals with all levels of the organization, including physicians. Demonstrates organizational, multi-tasking and problem solving skills. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (inclusive of Access).
